Engineering Lab Technician

We are looking for an Engineering Lab Technician to join us!

At Tark Thermal Solutions, you will join an international, collaborative team of engineers developing thermal management solutions for demanding applications across global medical, industrial and telecommunication markets. 

The Engineering Lab Technician is responsible for the development and execution of prototype testing and assisting with troubleshooting and equipment maintenance. This person also provides technical support in the form of documentation and design reviews as required.

Essential Tasks and Functions:

  • Provide general support for the design, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams in the form of problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Test prototype devices for engineering using a variety of lab and test equipment, including data acquisition.
  • Independently perform tests or experiments; observe and record results.
  • Build production test equipment to support new product releases.
  • Troubleshoot design issues as they arise for both prototype and released product.
  • Verification of customer failure modes using root cause failure analysis and teardown for both prototype and released product.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment including tools and assembly areas.
  • Additional duties may include finished goods assembly and or measurement and inspection of components and finished goods.


Desired Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of 3 years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Desire to take ownership of projects, tasks, and areas of expertise.
  • Strong experience with the use of electrical and mechanical lab equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, gauges, and various other test equipment.
  • Hands on prototyping skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on, collaborative work style.
  • Ability to participate in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Detail oriented with a focus on quality of work, execution, and follow through.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Willing to bring forward continuous improvement ideas and implement them where applicable.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering.
  • Experience reading and creating schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical prints.
  • Proficiency with GD&T Software (Minitab, JMP).
