Precise Thermal Management for Additive Manufacturing

3D printing systems must be thermally protected to ensure production of high-quality printed parts and long operational lifetime. UltraTEC™ UTX thermoelectric coolers in an ambient liquid loop provide a cost-effective solution for spot cooling of system components while Nextreme™ Recirculating Chillers deliver precise temperature control for all parts of the 3D printing machine.

Infrared Range Sensors

Infrared Range (IR) sensors are used in a variety of applications, including temperature sensing, video surveillance and motion detection. The video surveillance market utilizes infrared sensing technology for motion-based detection to improve facility security at night. Thermal cameras utilizing IR technology help airport staff quickly screen passengers to detect fever. Most recently, infrared range sensors are used to detect people’s body temperatures as a security and safety measure in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Laser Diodes

For being the smallest form of laser, laser diodes offer superior efficiency at a low cost. Whether used for fiber optics in telecommunications, industrial processing or autonomous systems, temperature stabilization is critical to maintain peak performance and ensure long-life operation. Because temperatures of a laser diode package can reach 85°C+ in an outdoor environment, waste heat must be dissipated away to keep the laser below its maximum operating limit.

ETX14-12-F1-6262-TA-RT-W6

The ETX14-12-F1-6262-TA-RT-W6 high temperature, high-performance thermoelectric cooler uses Laird's enhanced thermoelectric module construction preventing performance degrading copper diffusion, which is common in standard grade thermoelectric coolers operating in high temperature environments exceeding 80 °C. It has a maximum Qc of 138 Watts when ΔT = 0 and a maximum ΔT of 83.2 °C at Qc = 0.
